A generation of fans of Boston Bruins who has always seen Brad Marchand wearing the sweater of his team now has to get used to seeing the veteran left wing in a Florida Panthers sweater.
Marchand, 36, was treated to Florida for the NHL -Handelsdeadline on Friday at 3 p.m. The Deal Caps weeks of speculation that De Bruins fell from the Playoff race in the last year of his contract in the last year of his contract, divorce with their old star and team captain.
What De Bruins will receive in exchange for this has not yet been announced, because trade is still awaiting the competition. Marchand is currently out with an injury in the upper body that has put him on a side track since 1 March.
Bruins fans can shuffle even further in Marchand and are traded to the Panthers, who have eliminated Boston from the last two Stanley Cup -Play -Offs, last year in the second round.
Marchand played 16 seasons with the Bruins and won a Stanley Cup in his second season with the franchise in 2011-12. He has been the team captain for the past three seasons and takes over the mantle in 2023 after the retirement of Patrice Bergeron.
During his career, Marchand scored 422 goals with 554 assists in 1,090 competitions. He scored 20 or more goals for 12 consecutive seasons.
One of his career awards are two NHL All-Star games and twice are named after both the first team and the second team All-NHL teams.
In the international game, Marchand recently played the most for the Championship team of Team Canada in the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament. He was in the gold medal-winning clubs of Canada in the World Cup 2016 and IIHF World Championship.
De Bruins finished second in the Atlantic Division last year, only one point behind the Panthers with 109. Boston, however, has slipped considerably this season and has seventh place in the division with only 64 points to date. The team is still contrary to one of the two Wildcard berths of the Eastern Conference, with three points with the senators of Ottawa.
The interaction with Marchand was one of the many transactions that the Bruins had done before the NHL -Handelsdeadline. The team also exchanged defender Brandon Carlo to the Toronto Maple Leafs and Center Charlie Coyle to the Colorado Avalanche on Friday.
