Bodybuilder Jodi Vance dies after dehydration causes cardiac arrest

Jodi Vance, a 20-year-old bodybuilder, died of ‘complications of serious dehydration’, her family shared in a statement on Instagram. The family noted that “her heart stopped” and the hospital staff could not breathe new life into her.

“She was a beautiful person inside and out and she will be missed every day. This was suddenly and unexpected, “the statement partially reads. “If someone gets something out of this, first put your health.”

Her coach, Justin Mihaly, shared a reel on Instagram with the blessing of Vance’s family, he said.

“We all experience sorrow. Each of us experiences sadness. Jodi was crazy, “said Mihaly. “I believe that the light beam that (Jodi) brought to every social interaction, every networking evening, exhibition show, I think that should be emphasized.”

When he tackled Vance’s death, he explained that she “made an important mistake that was not part of our shared responsibility.”

“Jodi used two extremely hazardous substances to improve her physique … without my knowledge, my approval, without the knowledge of the family, their approval,” he said.

Mihaly said that tests from the hospital indicate that it is likely that Vance used ‘a potassium -saving diuretic’.

“We do know that she had access to these things, and we now know it was used. That diuretic combined with the hard fat -burning medicine … is something I have become a supporter of, “he said. “It had some bad downstream effects. It made Jodi Code, which means that her heart has stopped. ‘

Cleveland’s clinic says that people who take high doses of diuretics can experience dehydration without drinking enough liquid.

Both the family and Mihaly noticed that hospital staff VANCE could not resuscitate. Mihaly said he was worried about Vance prior to her death.

“Recently, health had become quite worrying and now we know why. Now we have the answers, “he said. “Many people who love Jodi, including myself, tried to get her out of the accelerator pedal. Everyone who knows Jodi knows how challenging that would be. … it was so hard to withdraw her. ”

What are diuretics?

Diuretics, also known as water pills, help the kidneys with moving salt and water in urine and from the body, says Cleveland’s clinic. They can help with heart failure, high blood pressure and more.

Diuretics are sometimes also used by bodybuilders because they can improve the appearance of muscles by reducing water retention in the body.

Because diuretics encourage liquid evacuation, people they take often urinate.

Potassium -saving diuretics are a class of diuretics with which people can reduce the liquid in their bodies without losing too much potassium, an electrolyte that works nerves, muscles and heart well.

Although Cleveland Clinic notes that diuretics tend to be well tolerated in patients, they can cause side effects, including an electrolyton balance and dehydration.

It is recommended that people who take diuretics undergo tests to evaluate their kidney function and drink liquids to prevent him from being dried out, Cleveland Clinic notes.
