Parker Posey looks back 25 years later at ‘Best in Show’

Parker Posey recalls 25 years since her role in the film 2000 Best in showAn off-the-wall spoof on dog shows by filmmaker Christopher Guest.

In an appearance on the Today Show On Wednesday, March 5, 2025, Posey said one of her memories of making the film thanks to a co-star of dogs: the poodle that played next to Jennifer Coolidge and Jane Lynch.

“I remember the poodle that Jennifer Coolidge and Jane Lynch had fired,” said Posey, 56, Today. “Yes, she behaved badly.”

Posey continued: “And somewhere I have some tape, because I have filmed the Poodle auditions in the Sutton Place Hotel in Toronto, that stands out.”

In the film, Lynch played the trainer of Poodle, while Coolidge played the owner of Poodle, a spacious woman who was married to a rich man who eventually falls for Lynch’s character instead.

In the meantime, Posey played the role of a young urban professional who, together with her equally neurotic husband, owns a Weimaraner.

Talk about TodayPosey added that many of her memories of filming Best in show Turns around “just laughing at everyone else while they work”, and noted that the mockumentary style of the guests of the guest meant that many of the most iconic lines were improvised by the actors themselves.

“We would be huddled and look at the monitors,” she continued. “You know, it is improvised, so what you bring happens live. And it takes about a few minutes to photograph. So it was a complete joy to be part of those films.”

Posey’s appearance Today came when she promoted her role in the third season of The White LotusThe HBO Anthology series made by Mike White. Posey plays Victoria Ratliff, who is on vacation with her husband, Timothy and their three children, in the show.
